What Actually Happens When You Get in Touch

I get a lot of enquiries from people who want their ads live as soon as possible. And I get it. You've made a decision, you're ready to go, you want to see results.

But before anything goes live, there's a bit of work that happens first.

The first thing I do when someone enquires is get them on a call. Nothing formal, a Zoom or sometimes a coffee if they're local. It's not a sales pitch. It's a chance to work out if I'm the right person for them and whether Google Ads is actually the right move for their business.

I'm trying to get a feel for the business, the owner, and what they actually need. Not what they think they need. Those aren't always the same thing.

After that call, before I go anywhere near an ads account, I do the research. Keyword research, competitor research, a look at what's already out there in their market. I pull it together into a mini report and share it with the client. We talk about the results they're after. What does success actually look like for them?

Only then do I go into the account.

I know that's not what people expect. Most assume it's a case of writing a few ads and switching something on. And technically, yes, you could do it that way. But you'd be going in blind. And blind is expensive.

The research phase is what means I'm not guessing. It means the keywords I choose are the right ones, not just the obvious ones. It means the budget goes where it should rather than disappearing into searches that were never going to turn into enquiries.

So hold your horses. Not because I'm slow, but because getting it right at the start is what makes the difference later on. If you want to see what that process looks like for your business, get in touch.
